DeKalb County
Located just to the east of Atlanta's city center, DeKalb County has a population of almost 750,000. In fact, a small part of the city of Atlanta is actually located within DeKalb County.
When many of the counties in Georgia struggled under the combined catastrophes of cotton crop destruction by the boll weevil and the Great Depression in the early part of the century, DeKalb residents switched to dairy farming and had more dairies than any state besides Wisconsin until the 1950's.
DeKalb is now home to eight different college campuses, including Emory University, Agnes Scott and Oglethorpe University. In 2009 the county was an Atlanta Regional Commission Green Community designee. Kroger Supermarkets and Cox Communications both have regional offices in unincorporated DeKalb County. In addition, the DeKalb County Historical Museum is located in the old County Courthouse. DeKalb also hosts The Michael C. Carlos Museum, Callenwolde Fine Arts Center, Stone Mountain Park and one of Atlanta's most eclectic neighborhood, Little Five Points.
DeKalb is also home to the Decatur office of Katz & Fleming. Our experienced attorneys are here to help if you or a loved one is struggling with personal injuries, accidents, insurance issues, medical or dental malpractice, and various business or employment disputes.
